The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2

The Letter of St. Paul

 to

The Romans

 Chapter

2

¹ Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things. ² You say, "We know that God's judgment on those who do such things is in accordance with truth." ³ Do you imagine, whoever you are, that when you judge those who do such things and yet do them yourself, you will escape the judgment of God?

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 1 to 3)

Oh God, my Father many times I have been judged. One of many persons who is a protestant many time accused me without ever knowing me of being evil because I am a Roman Catholic, because we bow before statues, without ever considering that You my, God loves me as much as much as You love the protestants and people from other religions. Thank You for loving me, my God and Father. Amen.

⁴ Or do you  despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realise that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? ⁵ But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.  ⁶ For he will repay according to each one's deeds; ⁷ to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; ⁸ while for those who are self-seeking and who obey not the truth but wickedness, there will be wrath and fury.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 4 to 8)

Oh God, my Father, if we only realised what it means to trust completely in You and choose You and Your will over that of our self and over the ways of the world. Our lives and that of the world would be a better place. You are the only one who can ever satisfy our souls. One day we are leaving the riches and honours of the world and only the good deeds and intentions will be our lot Amen.

⁹ There will be anguish and distress for everyone who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, ¹⁰ but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek, ¹¹ For God shows no partiality.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 9 to 11)

Oh God, my Father You are the only person whom I know that has no bias or prejudice and who is fair with everyone even if the person comes from a different religion or belief system. Your, door is open for everyone. Heaven has no limitation of accommodation or limited by time and space, or else You would have told us. I thank You for not denying anybody the opportunity of salvation Amen.

¹². All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verse 12)

Oh God, my Father You are so wise that You created laws on both the spiritual level and even those of a social nature. However some may try to get away from the punishments of the law, but nobody can get away from You and Your laws Amen.

¹³ For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in God's sight, but the doers of the law who will be justified.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verse 13)

Oh God my Father, even if I upload prayers on all of the Bible in this blog and then decide not to live one chapter of it or only those chapters which I find easy to live, all this would be a waste of time, for to share one thing and live another is hypocrisy and not worthy of the Word of God to be treated in such a way. I, therefore, pray to You my God and Father that You protect me from falling into such a trap Amen.

¹⁴ When Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, these though not having the law, are a law to themselves. ¹⁵ They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them ¹⁶ on the day, when according to my gospel, God, through Jesus Christ, will judge the secret thoughts of all.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 14 to 16)

Oh God, my Father, our actions act as a witness, against us, and even those of others. For example, certain charitable acts done, by people who do not believe in You make me feel ashamed of myself, for they are doing actions that  I a believer would think twice before doing. However, these people although they do not admit it have Your Law written in their hearts and even practice it. May we all be influenced by the positive acts of others instead of motivated by the negative ones Amen.

¹⁷ But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relation to God ¹⁸ and know his will and determine what is best because you are instructed in the law, ¹⁹ and if you are sure that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, ²⁰ a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment and truth, ²¹ you, then, that teach others, will you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? ²² You that forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You that abhor idols, do you rob temples? ²³ You that boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? ²⁴ For, it is written, "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 17 to 24)

Oh God, my Father these verses have indeed left their mark in me, for although I instruct others to take their medicines, I abstain from taking my own. Today You have taught me that before telling others how and what to do, it is best to check if I am practising that same thing myself, on both a spiritual and social level Amen.

²⁵ Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. ²⁶ So, if those who are uncircumcised keep the requirements of the law, will not their uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 25 to 26)

Oh God in light of this argument re-circumcision the same can be said about marriage. If the couple are no longer obeying the rules of love, trust, fidelity, communication, the marriage gradually breaks down, and therefore it can no longer be called a marriage but a union of convenience. When dialogue become confrontation, and one dreads the moment that one goes home after a day's work instead of feeling welcomed by one's family these are all signs that the marriage has become unhealthy and that something needs to be done. When all the basic elements have disappeared the marriage is no longer a marriage, however when a couple are living the vows of marriage even though they are not married this couple is as if they are married and they shame us who are married. I pray for Your immediate intervention my God and Father for my marriage has lost the basic ingredients Amen.

Signs that a marriage is over

²⁷ Then those who are physically uncircumcised but keep the law will condemn you that have the written code and circumcision but break the law. ²⁸ For a person is not a jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. ²⁹ Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart-it is spiritual and not literal. Such a person receives praise not from others but from God.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 2 verses 27 to 29)

Oh God my beloved Father, that I may be judged by You regarding my Faith in You and even in relation to my external behaviour. I pray that You give me the strength and power to live according to my faith in You, and not according to the ways of the world. However even, though this is my aim, I am still judged by others of not doing so, however, my trust is in You my God and Father forever Amen.

Oh God my beloved Father I would like to end this second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Romans with the following prayer;-

Oh God, I thank You for making me one of Your followers and believers, I thank You for accepting me as being part of Your body on earth that is the Roman Catholic Church as I hold according to my faith without displeasing others of different faiths. I pray that You give me the strength and Faith to live and behave according to my belief in You, and may You be reflected through the way I behave Amen. Thank You, God my beloved Father.

The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1

The Letter of St. Paul

 to

The Romans

 Chapter

1

1. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2. which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures, 3. the gospel concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh 4. and was declared to be Son of God with power according to the spirit of holiness by resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,  5. through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for the sake of his name, 6. including yourselves who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 1 to 6)

Oh God my Father, even though I am not an apostle, You have given me this assignment of praying on the Bible and sharing these prayers to all who have a desire to know You and make an experience of You in their hearts Amen.

7. To all God's beloved in Rome, who are called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verse 7)

Oh God, my Father I thank You for the special calling that You have given us that of being 'Saints'. As Christians, we have all the guidelines on how to live a life of holiness as found in the Bible . I pray oh God my Father that we live according to the commandments that you have given us and according to the teachings that You have given us by means of Your Holy Spirit by means of these letters that You permitted to be part of the Bible Amen.

8. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed throughout the world. 9. For God, whom I serve with my spirit by announcing the gospel of his Son, is my witness that without ceasing I remember you always in my prayers, 10. asking  that by God's will I may somehow at last succeed in coming to you.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 from verse 8 to 10)

Oh God, You are my witness and my salvation. My only consolation is in You. As You know one of my greatest wishes is that of bringing this blog to its fulfilment by covering all the books of the Bible in praise and worship during my time of prayer before I also leave this earth. If it is not You will oh God, I pray to You send me a follower who would be really and truly ready to continue from where I have covered so far every day of the week Amen by means of Your grace and wisdom.

11. For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you-12. or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 11 to 12)

Oh God my Father as much as we spend alot, of money on festivities, marriage celebrations, birthdays among others, we can give each other spiritual gifts such as intercessions or even a piece of paper with a biblical verse that during a particular moment of tribulation may be worth billions more than a lump of pure gold Amen.

13. I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as I have among the rest of the Gentiles.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verse 13)

Oh God, my Father even though as in the case of St.Paul we have good intentions for doing this and that, such projects may not always be according to Your will. Moreover, it could be the case that as a result of such projects others whom we are not aware of may be hurt both physically, emotionally and even spiritually. Therefore instead of helping us, You block our ways until we become aware, or You make us aware of the consequences of our actions. Therefore when we find ourselves facing a brick or stone wall or standing behind a door that absolutely does not want to be opened, instead of feeling discouraged or rebellious towards You my God it is best to stop and reflect if You are blocking are efforts for reasons that at the given time we are not yet aware of and pray for discernment in order to discover Your will. Amen.

14.  I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish 15. hence my eagerness to proclaim the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 14 to 15)

Oh God, my Father I am also  indebted to those people who have not yet form part of my circles and have not yet received these posts containing these moments of prayer.  I pray oh God my Father, that those who receive these chapters will continue  spreading the link, so that all the people of the world will be able to  experience You by means of the message of the 'Good News' Amen.

16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, "The one who is righteous will live by faith."

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 16 to 17)

Amen, I am also proud of the Gospel. It is the bread by which I sustain my body, the breath that gives me life. It is the only way to my salvation, which I truly hope and wish that I be worthy to receive my place in heaven if this is according to Your Will. Amen.

18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verse 18)

Oh God my Father ,woe it be on to them who even try to hinder the message of the 'Good News' from being spread throughout the world or even attempt to proclaim a version that is totally false and contrary to Your teachings, for they end up subject to Your anger for this can cause great harm to us believers. I pray oh God, that when praying on the Bible, I include that what is true, and that which is according to Your will Amen.

19. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verse 19)

Oh God my Father ever since we were children we have been given and made aware of Your existence, however, some still when becoming adults refuse to keep on believing while others become more in relationship, with You Amen because now that they have grown up they have moved from the state of simply hearing about You, to the stage of actually knowing You intimately through a daily life of prayer and other channels that You have used by which to call us Amen.

20. Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, indivisible though they are have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse; 21. for though they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened. 22. Claiming to be wise, they became fools; 23. and they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling a mortal human being or birds or four-footed animals or reptiles.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 20 to 23)

Oh God my father You have revealed Yourself completely by means of the Holy Spirit who has enlightened many of us to proclaim truths about Your indivisible nature and in relation to other issues of that we hold as being the truth, however as in all cases there are those who oppose and chose not to believe and follow other man-made or other religions. In name of the Roman Catholic Church I plead forgiveness if by my actions or my words, I am of a bad example to others so much that they decide to follow other religions Amen.

24. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves, 25. because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever!Amen.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 24 to 25)

Oh God my Father some of us instead of giving their love, praise and adoration to You have truly degraded their bodies by submitting their bodies under the high heels of females who dominate them by inflicting harm on their bodies in order to experience pleasure over their victims, who in turn worship the dominators body parts such as their feet or shoes instead of giving worship to You my God and Father Amen.

26. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, 27. and in the same way also the men giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 26 to 27)

Oh God my Father even though such people are not living according to the form or style that You wanted them to live and in our eyes appear as being weird or abnormal, as they themselves state, we are still to love and accept them as brothers and sisters, for even though they are living according to their passions they still love You in their own ways.

Oh God my Father although You can never accept or approve of the shameless acts, nonetheless You still love such people who are living in such a way Amen. In the name of our brothers and sisters I pray for Your mercy my God and Father and please give us an attitude of acceptance and not one of judgement, for You also forgave Mary magdalen the known sinner and You also forgive me. Amen.

28. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. 29. They were filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, craftiness, they are gossips, 30. slanderers, God-haters, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, rebellious towards parents, 31. foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32. They know God's decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die- yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practice them.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 28 to 32)

Oh God my Father, every day we are faced with the option of either following You or the ways of the world. If we follow You we benefit from Your love and mercy, however, if we follow the ways of the world we will end up victims of our own sinful ways, which may be according to the ways of the world but not acceptable by You Amen.

Oh God my Father I would like to end this chapter with the following prayer:-

Oh God my Father, I thank You for making me a Christian and Roman Catholic. I also thank You for calling me back to live a life closer to You by means of these moments of prayer. I thank You for the Bible for by means of the Good News, You reveal Yourself to me each day or moment of my life. I thank You for the new job that You have given me. Amen. I pray that You continue to help me so that I can pursue my studies and be ready and prepared to undertake such a job. Amen.

 Thank You Jesus.
